Dragonflies seem to be following me, depending on the time of the year and where I live. I notice them immediately and respond to their presence.
Many times, I see them hanging around my car. Then I did some research, and they are attracted to red and dark car colors (I have a dark blue car), and the way the light hits the colors, they think it’s bodies of water which is their territory.
There are about 3,000 different types of dragonflies, usually active when the weather is warm and sunny.
The symbolism of A Dragonfly
In most parts of the world, they symbolize change, transformation, and new beginnings. They can show up in your daily life or your dreams. Dreams are powerful. If dragonfly surfaces in yours, become aware of how you feel when you see them.
If you are aware, dragonflies are a sign – sometimes you ask for the sign, and sometimes the sign is given to you.
They are telling you that change is occurring, and are you willing to let go of the old beliefs that no longer support your well-being? Paying attention to the world around you is a sign – be aware of new opportunities.
Seeing a dragonfly may encourage you to leap forward with faith in the opportunity you are considering.
A dragonfly means you need to open the window to your mind, feelings, and emotions and release thoughts and feelings that block you from moving forward and creating change in your life.
In some cultures, a dragonfly indicates a loved one who has passed is sending signs through the dragonfly.
I got a dragonfly reading in my Oracle cards – it told me to see the meaning behind the illusion of perception: pay attention to all around me. We all carry the illusion of perception we hold on to, and I immediately recognize beliefs that no longer serve me. Focus on being authentic and who I am, without illusions that I should try to be anything different. It’s a personal interpretation; someone else may have a different illusion blocking their light.
Pay attention to all around me. Trust the signs — the world is my oracle.
One year, every time I went out, dragonflies were flying around me. I knew that they symbolized transformation, and there was comfort in their presence. I stopped, watched them fly, and honored their message to me.
I believe animals share their wisdom in their way, help us navigate the change, and support our faith that we are going in the right direction.
Do you see dragonflies, and if so, what do they mean to you? Maybe you see another animal that speaks more to you, and how do you incorporate their visits into your life?
Women’s Group Topics
A fun topic and one that could potentially generate different opinions. Yet why not explore the symbolism of the animal world as it pertains to us? We are all energy, and their power could provide some meaningful insight.
“To fully enjoy the ‘richness’ of our lives, we need to stop long enough to visit with ourselves.”
