A gentle reset isn’t about saying something is wrong; it’s about reconnecting with yourself.
- You don’t need to break down to get rest.
- You don’t need permission for others to decide to rest.
- Most importantly, you don’t have to figure it all out.
Sometimes a reset looks like:
- Place a hand on your heart and take three slow breaths in and out.
- Naming what you are feeling, and it could be “this is overwhelming.”
- Letting today be “good enough” instead of perfect
- Choosing rest without explaining yourself to anyone else – name one way you can rest your body now.
- Tidy one area for 5 minutes, then stop.
A gentle reset asks a simple question: “What would be supportive right now?” Remember, it’s supportive—not productive, just supportive.
Take Time to Ask Yourself
Where in your life are you pushing when you could pause? What would a gentler approach look like today? Write without editing. This is about awareness, not answers.
Your Thoughts
When overwhelm shows up, do you push yourself further to complete what you believe you must do? Do you think you would be clearer and have more energy if you took some time to rest? Keep in mind that overwhelm rarely goes away by doing more.
A gentle reset is an act of self-respect. Paying attention to what you need and not what is expected of you. These minor resets help reduce any burnout that you are holding in your body. The more often you allow yourself to reset in those moments, the more you are listening to the inner voice that wants to move you towards self-care. This is coming back to yourself.
Women’s Group Topic
This discussion allows women in the group to reflect on how they push themselves toward burnout before deciding to rest. Use these questions to start a conversation on how to introduce self-care into one’s daily life:
- How does overwhelm show up for you: mentally, emotionally, or physically?
- When you feel overwhelmed, do you choose to push through or step back and take a breather? Why?
- Which gentle reset do you feel you can do today to support your well-being?
- Do you have an inner belief that says, “I must do all that is on my list, no matter what.”
- What would your life be like if you added resets daily to your day?
Have each woman share one gentle reset she can try this week and share how it went at the next meeting.
