Thriving Begins When You Choose Yourself

thriveFor many women, thriving feels like something that comes later, after they complete all their responsibilities. After life settles down. After they finally have more time, energy, or clarity.

But thriving doesn’t begin when circumstances change. Thriving begins when you choose yourself.

Choosing yourself is not selfish. It’s about the consistent moments where you honor your needs, trust your inner signals, and stop abandoning yourself in the name of keeping everything else together.

Choosing yourself is where life starts to feel supportive instead of draining.

What Thriving Really Means for Women

Thriving isn’t about being happy or successful all the time. It’s about choosing to live in a way that supports your emotional well-being, your energy, and your values.

For many women, thriving looks like:

  • Not feeling constantly overwhelmed.
  • Replacing a feeling of depletion with more energy.
  • Decision making that is more aligned with who you are, what you want, and especially what you need in your life now.
  • Releasing guilt and adding more fun and joy to your life.
  • Knowing you can handle whatever happens next in your life.

Thriving doesn’t mean life is perfect. It’s more about how life feels more meaningful and supportive.

How Choosing Yourself Changes Everything

When you choose yourself, you reduce your reliance on a reactive mindset. You increase awareness, reducing the need to put out fires regularly.

Choosing yourself can look like:

  • Listening to your body, and not constantly pushing through and adding stress in your life.
  • Being ok with saying “no” to something that isn’t aligned with your well-being.
  • Living with a slower pace, which supports you physically and mentally.
  • Letting go of the need to prove anything or perform.
  • Creating space to nourish yourself.

Each time you choose yourself, you create conditions where thriving becomes possible. Thriving replaces surviving, and support your growth and well-being.

Your Thoughts

So, do you think it’s possible to get out of survival mode and move into thriving in your life?  Are you open to honoring your needs and choosing yourself, even if it means letting other people down or not being on top of everything in your life?  Here are some thoughts to ask yourself about what thriving means to you:

  • Your life becomes more stable when you stop abandoning yourself.
  • When you balance your life, your energy increases.
  • When energy returns, you find that your clarity and confidence grow.

Thriving is not something you chase. It’s something that unfolds when you treat yourself as someone worth caring for.

Choosing yourself is not the end of responsibility. It’s the beginning of a healthier relationship with it.

Women’s Group Topic

Women wear many hats and can’t always see where they can choose themselves.  This is a great discussion to focus on how each person in the group doesn’t take care of themselves, and what they can do to refocus their mindset toward self-care.  Here are some questions to start the discussion:

  • If you choose yourself, what would that bring up for you?
  • Where, what, or who comes into your life, and you choose yourself last?
  • If you allow yourself to choose you, how would your life change?

Have each person end the discussion by sharing: “Thriving begins for me when I allow myself to….”

. . .

Wishing you growth and ease
