Life Lessons – Too Much Drama In Your Life?

October 24th, 2009 in Personal Growth

Oh, all the drama that gets played out each day in our lives.  The stories we spin about what is happening to us or others permeates and consumes a lot of energy.  Usually the stories we tell are not gleeful but rather full of “woo.”  We repeat the same storylines day in and day out and don’t know how to change the headlines.   Where does all this drama come from and why do we want it?   Does it make us feel more alive?

What heading would aptly describe the drama in your life? For me, the heading would be “Just Not Enough Time to Do All That Everyone Wants from Me.”   I get a feeling that this particular drama won’t end with a happy ending, unless I change the title.

Recently I had a reading with Starr Fuentes, Master Healer, Spirtual Teacher and Intuitive.  In the past when I had “psychic” readings, I never truly believed it.  As I get older, I’m more in touch with my own intuition so believe that we all have the ability to read other’s energy, though some people have fully developed this ability.  This is why I do go to energy healers and readers.

So…what did she tell me?   She provided me with several good perceptions of my life, but the one that really took me by surprised — Get rid of my “to do” list.  I didn’t share anything about myself and my massive “to do” list.  Just look above at my drama headline and you will see just how appropriate this call was for me.

No more making of lists.  Intuitively I know she’s right, BUT no more lists.  Don’t think I can do that.   I did go home and deleted many line items off my list…a start.   Clearly the drama of my life sits within the line items on my “to do” list.   I feel burdened by what I perceived needs to be done without the relief of accomplishment.   Mainly because I either don’t do it all, or I do a lot and then add a bunch more things on my list.   The drama goes on…

She further explained that intuitively I know what is important to me.   The more I rely on my ability, the more I make choices that support me and what I have to offer to the Universe.  We all have a well of possibilities that we can offer.   My drama is that there is too much to do, never enough time, not following through with my “to do’s” all take up space within my mind, heart and spirit.   This leaves less room for me to shine and offer my best.

What does my “to do” list provide for me?   It keeps me busy.   When I’m busy, I’m not thinking about where my life is going, rather just showing up and functioning.  I’m grateful for my ability to function, yet there is something missing because of my busyness.

I’m grateful for her guidance because I know it’s true.   Since I believe there is no such thing as a coincidence, the path I went on to meet her was where I needed to be.

It’s an ongoing journey and I feel lighter already by eliminating items on my list, not checking my list and quietly listening and trusting myself a little more.   That’s the gift.   In every encounter there is potential to gain something and give something.

I do enjoy drama on the screen and stage and am minimizing it from my life.  I prefer joy instead of drama.

What about you?  Do you have a story you tell yourself everyday that just isn’t making you happy?

Thanks for sharing. I never liked to do list. I feel that if I have a list and don’t get everything done on it, this is going to make me feel bad, so why do I want to do something that is going to make me feel bad about myself. Besides keeping things in your head helps keep the brain alive and thinking. I beleive that people these days are trying to do to much anyway. We need to learn to slow down just little. Kind of stop and smell the roses a little more.

I believe the number of sites that make an effort to “grow their supporter base by communication” is actually on the rise. Many people jumped into developing websites and posting without knowing the need for developing a relationship with their readers. Like you have here, congrats.
